Old bridge is gone, new bridge over Porcupine River at Hoyle is anticipated this fall

There’s currently no bridge over the Porcupine River, just off Hwy. 101 at Hoyle.  Closed since November, 2021 due to safety concerns, the old bridge has now been demolished.

City of Timmins director of growth and infrastructure Scott Tam says in the next couple weeks, the contractor will prepare footings for a new bridge.

“Once the steel comes in so they can start working on the structure itself, that’s where it will take the most time,” Tam remarks, “but also you’ll start seeing more visual bridge building kind of activity happening.”

“They are working on preparing to pour the footing on the east side” he adds, “and things are progressing and there’s anticipation of a fall completion date still, and we remain on track on that.”

Since the old bridge was closed, traffic has been detoured onto Carrigan Rd.
