Another round of information on the 2016 Census is now available.
This time it focuses on the Aboriginal and immigrant population.
Statistics Canada shows that the Aboriginal population in Timmins has risen from 3,380 to 4,715 between 2011 and 2016, but the overall percentage in relation to the rest of the local population has dropped from 12.97Â per cent to 8.74Â per cent.
The census shows that immigration numbers are up in the city. Data reveals that Timmins has 170 immigrants compared to 90 from the 2011 census. The majority of the city’s immigrants come from Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, United States and the Philippines.
