You can still buy fresh produce downtown throughout the month.
The Urban Park Farmers Market will continue every Thursday in the downtown core throughout the rest of September. Downtown BIA Executive Director Noella Rinaldo says this summer was the BIA’s biggest and busiest summer yet, but the vendors will keep coming back. “Our farmers still have so much produce left and the weather’s been nice.” Rinaldo adds that ” we’ve still got carrots and tomatoes, still a lot of harvest still out.”
She says early fall is the perfect time to hit a farmers market. “This is prime for farming, this is the time that you want to be down at the market so I hope we continue to see people on Thursdays.”
She says this year the Farmer’s Market will end on the last Thursday of the month with an all-new AppleFest. This is the first time the BIA is holding this event. Rinaldo says one of the vendors will be bringing apples from her family farm with a minimum of 12 different types. “We’ll have apple butter, apple cider, apple baking, everything to do with apples is going to be a part of Applefest.” She says it’s going to be a fun way to kick off the Fall season.
