Hazardous & Special Waste Event slated for Sat., June 15 at Spruce St. snow dump

You can cross off the final item on your spring cleaning list next Saturday, June 15th: getting rid of those old paint cans and other hazardous things lying around.

The city is holding its annual Household Hazardous and Special Waste Event., between 8:00am and 2:00pm.

Environmental coordinator Christina Beaton says the one big change this year is the location. It’s at the Spruce St. snow dump, instead of the Sportsplex parking lot.

“So it’s going to be one-way traffic, so coming into Iroquois Rd. and following the signs to the dropoff area near the Spruce snow dump,” she outlines.

In the audio of our interview on My Timmins Now Dot Com, she lists off everything considered hazardous.

“The list is quite extravagant, Beaton states. “Essentially, if you’re using this within your home and it’s considered a hazardous product that should go down the drain or into your garbage, then this is the avenue for you to properly dispose of it.”

If you’re still wondering after hearing the list, you should contact Service Timmins.
