‘Open Day’ coming to Polar Bear Habitat

You can finally visit the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat for the first time or if it’s been a while, without paying an admission fee.

Habitat manager Amy Baxendell says that’s next Saturday, June 29th. You can participate in free behind-the-scenes tours of the Habitat and the Heritage Village.  Plus the Snack Shack will be open.

“We’re hoping tore introduce people to the Habitat,” remarks Baxendell. “The last open day we did was about five years ago and it was a huge success.  We connected people with the Habitat that hadn’t ben here since we first opened, so it’s a really great opportunity for everyone to get involved.”

One disappointing note: the kids’ paddle pool where they can get up close to the polar bears needs a health unit inspection. Baxendell says the anticipated opening is July 2nd.

And Bearfest runs all that week, wrapping up with a mud bog on the 7th.
