City man charged with assault and weapon possession

Timmins Police have charged a city man with several offenses, after an assault late last month.
Police say that, around 9:20 p.m. on July 28th, a brief verbal altercation between two people at Second Avenue and Mountjoy Street South turned violent.
Police say one person attacked the other with an edged weapon, causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The accused has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with a probation order.
They’re to appear in court later today.
Police say assistance from the public was “invaluable.”
