Geochemical exploration has wrapped up by Torr Metals on the Filion Gold Project on Highway 11 near Kapuskasing, west of Opasatika.
President and CEO Malcolm Dorsey says the company is liking what they are seeing from samples taken from the area that’s roughly 1.2 kilometres in length and 500 metres wide which is similar to the Hemlo gold deposit.
“That’s something that we are looking at here,” he said. “We’re testing about seven kilometres strike length to see if how much anomalism we get on that seven kilometres and that should start to give us an idea of how big could this thing get.”
Dorsey notes that despite it being early in the process the company has been very surprised.
“What the initial results are showing us is that the system that is up in that area is much larger than historically ever understood,” he said.
He adds that Filion is not a mine at this time but the company trying to determine if there is enough for a deposit and something more significant beyond that.
