There’s two years of work left at the Glencore Kidd Mine in Timmins.
Workers there were informed that the mine will close at the end of 2026.
In a statement, Glencore’s director of government relations and Corporate Affairs Alexis Segal says during exhaustive study, the company “was unable to identify a technical and economically feasible way of extending mine life to deeper zones.”

We confirm that Glencore announced last week the future closure of KIDD Mine at the end of 2026. Indeed, following a period of exhaustive study, we were unable to identify a technical and economically feasible way of extending mine life to deeper zones. We will continue focusing on efficiency and safety during this operational transition. Our main goal is to ensure a smooth and responsible transition for our employees in this phase of change.
