As the snow melts, revealing any number of messes, the City of Timmins is undertaking a property standards blitz to ensure they’re cleaned up.
City clerk and community services director Steph Palmateer says enforcement officers will deal specifically with the outdoor portion of properties that have been identified as having garbage and other health and safety hazards lying around.
“Our enforcement team will be revisiting files that they’ve had issues with over the past winter during this blitz,” says Palmateer, “and they’ll be putting the notice on the owners to clean up the properties.”
Enforcement officers will notify owners to get them cleaned up. If the deadline passes, the city moves in.
“We have the ability to go in and clean it up and add the costs plus administration fees for our time and service to the property tax roll,” Palmateer informs.
The outdoor property standards blitz could begin as soon as next week.
