Improving school attendance is a top priority for the Northeastern Catholic District School Board this year.
The City of Timmins has joined with the school board to proclaim September as Attendance Awareness Month. Attendance Counsellor Kim Meunier says September is a particularly good time to focus on attendance and the importance of being in school.
Meunier says poor attendance is also an early predictor for students leaving school before they graduate.
She adds that the district wants to see all students in school everyday to learn and grow.
