You will now have more access to books in Timmins.
Two new Great Book Boxes are being installed in community areas to help support reading and sharing them in the community. Currently, there are boxes in community parks like Gillies Lake, and now one is being added to White Waterfront in South Porcupine and Roy Nicholson Park.
This project is being led by the Porcupine Book Club to encourage more people and families to take and share literature in all languages. The club says these boxes are filled with books of all types and for all ages and are monitored by local volunteers. It says the purpose is to take a book, return a book or donate a book. The club says the project is going very well, so more boxes are being brought to more areas in the city.
One more box should be installed within the next few weeks at W. Earle Miller Public School.
