Halloween is just around the corner and one Timmins man wants to celebrate it by giving back.
The Night Terrors Film Festival will be showcasing a horror movie every Friday night in October, while also fundraising for a local charity. This is the third year the festival will be bringing something spooky to a fundraiser.
Creator of the festival Eddie Levesque says this year he is raising money for the Timmins and District Victim Services. “It hits close to home because I was a victim of crime myself this over the summer, but I figured it was a good cause.” Levesque says over the last two years he has raised money homeless organizations, so it will be good to switch it up.
Levesque says this year’s event will feature Jaws, Thing, Lost Boys and Poltergeist. He says there will also be themed, trivia and costume nights where you can win prizes.
He says this year he is on track to raise more money than the previous two years. “The community really came behind us this year. I don’t know if it is more popular or not, but we had a lot of sponsorship this year and it covered the entire expense, meaning every single dollar from ticket sales will be going towards the charity.” Levesque says he is estimating that he could raise almost $2,500.
Tickets are $5 per night and available at Alfies and Cinema Six. Click here for more information.
