Timmins Council Holds its Last Meeting

City Council has wrapped up its last meeting until after the election.

Council used its last meeting to review the Stars and Thunder financials for 2018, discuss the process of possibly implementing an accommodation tax and some advanced polling kiosks for the election.

CAO Dave Landers says holding meetings while voting is open can create conflictions, so the group has been disbanded until after Election Day. “Most of the business that we had on the books right now, we have been able to wrap up at this point in time.” Landers adds that as we head into the election there will be no meeting, “unless there was something that would arise that needed council to come together and deal with an unplanned matter.”

Online voting for the municipal election opens on Monday. Election Day will take place on October 22nd.
