Travelling in to or out of the Timmins Airport this last weekend of March break will be, shall we say? — complicated.
Airport manager Dave Dayment notes that we’re getting the storm that Environment Canada predicted. At the airport, the real issue is the wind and blowing snow.
“We’ve got a runway that’s usable but there’s certain limits that aircraft need to abide by, and one of them’s visibility and if you get anything below a half-mile, they can’t do an approach and land, or take off, for that matter,” he says.
“As soon as the wind goes down a bit, we’ll stay on top of it, and I think we’ll be back in action tomorrow. It looks like at least midday tomorrow.”
As always, check your flight status with your airline before heading to the airport.
