Crime Stoppers report: Looking for stolen Sikh ceremonial items

Cochrane District Crime Stoppers and Timmins Police Service are looking for the public’s assistance in solving a theft of ceremonial weapons from a vehicle in Timmins.

The theft occurred sometime during the evening of May 26th or the morning of May 27th, 2023 at 24 Cedar Street South, The GURDWARA Sikh Temple where ceremonial weapons were stolen from a pick-up truck that was parked in their lot overnight.

Some of the weapons were kept in two duffle bags, a Large black Grayne Snowboarding bag that is approximately 5′ in length, and a black High Sierra Duffle bag.

Items stolen are estimated to be valued at $1500 and are as follows:

1- black “Grayne” snowboard bag containing weapons (photo of bag appended) approximately 5′ in length

1- black “High Sierra” bag containing weapons (photo of bag appended)

4- Curved Swords 2′-3′ in length

2- straight double-edged swords

2- push daggers

2- hatchets

8- bamboo sticks (black paint and blue padding)

4- rubber shields

2- black and blue metal shields (recovered)

2- blue and yellow wooden wheels (recovered)

1- chain mace

2- wooden handled swords with flexible blades.
