Ontario Provincial Police have formally charged a 36 year old Smooth Rock Falls man following an incident in Moonbeam last Friday that closed Highway 11 for nearly 12 hours.
The province’s Special Investigation Unit is continuing its inquiry after an officer fired his gun at the man’s vehicle who attempted to flee the scene on foot east of Moonbeam. The accused is facing a total of 14 charges including:
Assault
Mischief destroys or damages property (spousal)
Theft of a motor vehicle
Take motor vehicle without consent
Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
Assault with a weapon
Dangerous operation
Two counts – Mischief destroys or damages property
Two counts – Fail to comply with probation order
Driving under suspension contrary to highway traffic act.
