A recount is expected to be called in the riding of Mushkegowuk-James Bay after New Democrat Incumbent Guy Bourgouin edged Conservative and Kapuskasing Mayor Dave Plourde by just four votes. The two had volleyed the lead throughout much of the night and Bourgouin went ahead in the final two polls of the night.
Meantime. two of the ridings in our region returned their respective incumbents. Conservative and Mines Minister George Pirie is back in the Timmins Riding with nearly a 7,000 vote win over New Democrat candidate Corey Lepage. In Timiskaming Cochrane, John Vanthoff defeated his nearest competitor Conservative and Iroquois Falls Mayor Tory DeLaurier by 1,613 votes.
